Halloween, 2009

Hope everyone had a happy Halloween. Jarrett sure had fun Trick 0r Treating at the neighbors and playing some with Jacoby. This is his back-up costume as he didn't want anything to do with his other pumpkin suit. He liked the pumpkin hat when dad wore it but he sure wasn't going to wear it. :)

CORN YUM!

Jarrett ate his first ear of corn last night and loved it! Yum!
The Olathe corn is at its peak and delicious!

We're also having an amazing harvest from our garden this year! The Bush Goliaths make great fresh salsa. I'm planning on freezing tomato sauce and canning tomato jam, too.

Playing My Guitar!

Jarrett is getting into music these days! When he hears music that he likes he bobs up and down to the beat of the tune. His favorite song lately is "Farmer in the Dell."

Our Garden Harvest

We're starting to reap a harvest from our garden! As you can see, the yellow squash is proliferating, the tomatoes are turning red, the broccoli is still producing, and acorn and butternut squash is on the way! Jack made a triple batch of Zucchini Mexicali tonight, some to freeze and some for dinner the next few days while he is away. Mmmm!

The Snavely Family Together in Colorado!

This last week has been action packed with the whole Snavely clan in town! Jack's parents, Grandma and Pop, drove a two day trip to Colorado from Ohio. Jack's brother and family, Mark, Kay, Brian and Matthew, also drove two days from Chicago. What a great time we had together playing card games, baseball, bocce ball, swimming, going to the movie, and celebrating two birthdays! Jack and Mark whipped together a wonderful dinner of Zucchini Mexicali made with home grown zucchini from the Ohio Snavely garden. The week went fast and Jarrett is sure missing his cousins. Thanks for coming such a long way to spend a week with us and giving us the opportunity to host you in our home!

A few pictures from the week!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU.......

Warming up during a break from swimming at the Recreation Center with a snack and hug.

What a great time the three cousins had playing together this past week!

CHEESE! Jarrett's cousins and Grandma Snavely.

The packaging is fun, too!

Jarrett's First Birthday!

Today is Jarrett's 1st birthday! What wonderful memories this day holds. He has been such a blessing in our lives. Happy First Birthday, Jarrett! XOXO Love, Mom & Dad

Monday, July 20, 2009

Ann, Bryan, Kathryn, Alex & Grace visited today!

After a great dinner of homemade Lemon & Parsley pasta tossed with olive oil, salt & pepper, homemade Lemon, White Chocolate, Mint bread, garden broccoli, and Palisade peaches on the back patio, the Ann & Bryan Stern clan stopped over. Jarrett opened his birthday present from them a cute, stuffed cookie monster and two books, "pat the bunny" and "The Going to Bed Book."I also opened my birthday present, a classy set of drink charms and 4 nice, green placements trimmed in ivory. Thank you so much! We really enjoyed your visit and wish you safe travels over the coming week.

Jarrett and the girls had a blast crawling in the grass together! It was a beautiful evening!

What's in my nose?

Jarrett practiced today eatting cottage cheese with a spoon. After a bit, he just wanted to eat with his hands. Unfortunately, his nose trapped a bit of cottage cheese that required a little intervention to remove.

All Clear!

Our Helper

Jarrett loves to help with the laundry! He likes to pull the laundry out of the basket, make piles, and shift everything around, throwing, tossing, and paying peek-a-boo. He is such a great helper and makes doing laundry a lot of fun.

Storm last Sunday

Jack took these pictures of the storm rolling in last Sunday while Jarrett and I napped in the afternoon. My brother, Bryan, called to report a tornado was in the area! Not surprising....the clouds came in quickly and were constantly changing.

Fun in the Back Yard!

We've had great weather these last few days! It's been great playing out in the back yard with Jarrett!

Jarrett and I playing "Tick-Tock." A little song that goes like this, "Tick-Tock, Tick-Tock, I'm a little Coo-coo clock and the clock strikes ONE!" I swing Jarrett back and forth until the clock strike and then I lift him up and down for the number of the clock strikes. It's a great arm work out and I'm pretty tired at the third clock strike.

Jarrett pulls himself to standing for the first time!

To keep Jarrett safe while I set up the stroller for an afternoon walk, I put Jarrett in his Pack N Play for a few minutes while getting ready. Two minutes later, I hear Jarrett calling out and found him standing! He was excited about his new feat.

Our Week at the Cabin--June 22-29.

We had a great week at the cabin with Mom and Dad working, fishing and relaxing.

Just one of Jarrett's favorite activities while at the cabin. He loved crawling around the furniture, pulling himself to his knees at the windows, getting into the refrigerator, and playing with all things interesting at his level.

Jarrett in command of the boat and doing well for his first time.
Jack enjoying the best spot on the boat as we head out to the cabin from the Marina.
The weather was beautiful most days but the last two days we experienced storms and high winds. Jack was brave to venture out on the water alone to the Marina one of those two days to make a run to the dump, fix broken lights on a trailer, and get supplies to fix the toilet.

Jarrett was such a trooper on his first trip to the cabin. He loved the new environment and being with Nana and Grandpa for the week.

Some of the days were quite hot and humid and the cold water was welcome. Here Jack swam across the cove to the neighboring island to explore.
The catch of the day! An old BBQ that was headed for the dump but blew into the lake during a storm before it was hauled away. Jack dove down into the 54 degree water to attach a rope so he could pull it out! It was cold!
The ticks were out in full force so frequent tick checks were called for.
Jack and Dad discussing the mechanics of the water pump that will have a fire hose attached in case of a fire on the island. Jarrett exploring all the buttons and knobs making sure they all work.
